From working to produce, to looking for meaning and experiences. A reading on where demand may move if cognitive work gets cheaper. Not a forecast and not an invitation to invest in a sector.
As AI automates cognitive tasks — drafts, calendars, summaries, first-line support — and a universal basic income or a shorter week is debated, the abundant resource stops being code or paperwork. What becomes scarce is free time, attention and the wish for a real connection. A solo founder does not need to wait for a basic income: people already pay for an hour they cannot get on their own.
When basic needs and routine work get cheaper, spending and time shift toward purposeful leisure, in-person or hybrid micro-communities, wellbeing, games, culture, social sport and time off a screen. The hyper-specific wins: not «leisure» in the abstract, but Thursday ceramics on your street, a seven-person cooking challenge, a phone-free hang. High margin and little cash fit here because the asset is the gathering, not the venue or the software.
A reading to decide which problem to look at. Not investment advice, not a forecast that a basic income will arrive, and not a revenue promise.
